PCs Litten and CarverThe Second Series was made and broadcast in 1985 - the Director of Woodentop, Peter Cregeen, was appointed Producer as Michael Chapman had left to make Mr Palfrey of Westminster.

The theft of a briefcase from a car led Sun Hill into the investigation of a pornography racket (Burning The Books); a safebreaker escaped from prison and tried to get himself rearrested when he realised life on the inside was better (Death Of A Cracksman); and PC Ackland and Sergeant Cryer (pictured) uncovered a counterfeit perfume factory in the docklands area (The Sweet Smell Of Failure). Electrical work at Sun Hill caused inconvenience for all, as tensions between between Roach and Galloway ran high (Snouts and Red Herrings); and Sun Hill officers launched a full-scale search for a missing eight-year-old girl (Lost).

DS Roach and DC DashwoodMartella arrested a woman who had been 'pregnant' for 13 months, concealing stolen cigarettes in the 'bulge' (Suspects); racial hatred came to a head by leftist agitators (Homebeat); and Smith and Dashwood were in pursuit of suspects in connection with the armed robbery of a milkman (Hostage). PCs Edwards and Carver returned a lost pig and con-men were burgling houses by delivering wardrobes, with one man hidden inside (This Little Pig).
